I guess my post on Sept. 1 really should have said Sept. 1 and 2; we left the US on the 1st and got here on the 2nd.
I had trouble sleeping in the night, took 1 sleeping pill when 2 is the normal dose, and slept until 12:30!! I felt human again!! I was surprised that Brandi had not whined to awaken me. We took a tour around the block, we both had breakfast (I had brought some granola bars with me), and then I headed to the grocery store.
I took a quick tour of the grocery store (Netto, a discount store, and only down the street, around the corner, about the 3rd shop on the left), and kind of cased out what I would get. I had brought 2 mesh bags with me from Kohl's; they fold up but are very spacious when unsnapped. Coke Light is slightly more expensive that Pepsi, but I got it anyway! Milk, Gouda cheese slices (a favorite), sliced chicken breast and sliced ham, bread (brot), butter, potato chips with paprika (!!---a new taste sensation), a bottle of orange juice, some oranges, and of course, some Leibnitz cookies with chocolate on one side and cracker/like cookie on the other. I also got shampoo, a bar of soap, and dishwashing detergent. Alas, I could not find mango juice---I had SO enjoyed this in Vienna and had it every day with breakfast.
Back here, I again borrowed Henrich's computer (I am unsure whether the familiar form of this is Henny or Hendy---both seem strange), and wrote a few e-mails. I was disappointed that I could not e-mail from my flat. Ulli gave me a couple of various sizes of dishes and silverware. I had a sandwich for supper, a couple cookies throughout the evening, and Brandi and I went to bed. When you don't get up until 12:30, it is a short day!!
