Sunday, Sept 6---Quiet Day at Home

managed to tell Henrich, auf Deutsch, that his car lights were on!! They have a Mercedes station wagon, parked across the entrance to the driveway last night, and this morning I realized the lights were on. Hurray for me!

Brandi and I have had a quiet day. I even had a mittagsschlaf, a midday nap. Tag is day, and schlafen is to sleep. Brandi and I have just gotten back from a walk around the neighborhood, a little farther afield anda different direction, and I will try again to post some pictures. I like Sandi's blog program better in that it seems you can move pictures around more, but this will have to do for now.

I've included a better picture of the front of "our" house. It is typical that the designs above each floor's windows vary---these are called "eyebrows" of the house. Not all houses have to be beige or white; we saw pink, blue, and yellow stucco-type material on our walk today. There are little gardens in front of many houses, only about a yard deep, but crammed with everything from hostas to roses to black-eyed Susans to plants I've never seen before. The motif wall was between long sections of wrought-iron fence along the edge of one property. The Europeans have stonework and woodwork that is generally much more elaborate than ours.

More tomorrow!! Meanwhile, I want some e-mails from "back home", OK?
